Farmstand 23 Sept 2011. Lone Pine. Lots of nice plums. Plums were the first cash crop that the Willamette Valley European settlers were able to make. They dried them into prunes and could ship them back East. Hazelnuts (aka filberts) were another early cash crop, and our area produces most of the hazelnuts in the USA.
I picked up 4 local melons; they’re really good this year.
